To sell on Amazon from Magento you need a connector that syncs listings, stock, prices and orders between the two, because Adobe's own Amazon Sales Channel extension was discontinued on October 1, 2024. The realistic options are a Magento connector extension, a feed management tool, or multichannel middleware that sits between Magento, Amazon and other channels. Whichever you choose, the biggest risks are overselling from slow stock sync and orders that fail to import, because both damage your Amazon account health.
What changed: Adobe's connector is gone
Adobe's documentation states that, effective October 1, 2024, it discontinued the Amazon Sales Channel extension and its integration with the Amazon marketplace, and the extension is no longer offered on the Adobe Commerce Marketplace. If your store still has it installed, plan a replacement; it will not be maintained for new Magento or Amazon API changes.
Amazon has also changed its APIs. Amazon's Selling Partner API (SP-API) changelog announced the deprecation of XML and flat-file listings feeds submitted through the Feeds API, with a sunset date of March 31, 2025, in favor of the JSON-based Listings Items API and the JSON_LISTINGS_FEED feed type. Amazon notes that this does not affect files sellers upload directly in Seller Central. That date has passed, so any connector you choose should use the current JSON listings APIs.
The three integration options
| Factor | Magento connector extension | Feed management tool | Multichannel middleware |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it works | Module inside Magento talks to SP-API | External tool reads your catalog and builds channel listings | Hub that syncs Magento with Amazon and other channels and systems |
| Listings | Map Magento attributes to Amazon product types in the admin | Strongest at transforming and optimizing listing data | Good, often with rules per channel |
| Stock and price sync | Near real time from Magento | Often scheduled; check frequency | Central stock pool across channels |
| Orders | Imports Amazon orders into Magento | Varies; some tools are listings only | Routes orders to Magento, ERP or warehouse |
| FBA and MCF | Some connectors sync FBA stock and orders | Usually not | Often supported |
| Best for | Magento as the single system of record, one or two marketplaces | Large catalogs needing listing optimization | Many channels, ERP or WMS as the stock master |
Connector extensions
Extensions such as M2E Pro connect Magento directly to Amazon (and, in M2E's case, eBay and Walmart). They map products, push stock and prices, and import orders as Magento orders. M2E also documents FBA stock synchronization into a Magento inventory source and a separate Multi-Channel Fulfillment extension. Connectors keep everything in Magento, but they add load to your store and must be updated with each Magento release.
Feed management tools
Feed tools take your catalog and produce optimized listings for Amazon and shopping channels. They are strong on attribute mapping, titles and rules, which matters because Amazon's product type requirements are detailed and change. Many focus on listings, so check how they handle stock updates and order import, or pair them with another tool for orders.
Multichannel middleware
Middleware platforms sit between Magento, marketplaces, ERP and warehouse systems. They suit merchants selling on several marketplaces, or where the ERP or WMS holds the true stock figure. They add another subscription and another place where things can go wrong, so make sure monitoring and alerts are part of the setup.
Inventory and order sync risks
These are the failure points to design for, whichever option you choose.
| Risk | What happens | Mitigation |
|---|---|---|
| Slow stock sync | Items sell on Amazon and your site at the same time; you oversell | Event-driven or frequent updates; a safety buffer per channel |
| Wrong stock source | Amazon shows stock from the wrong warehouse or ignores reservations | Map Magento inventory sources and salable quantity correctly |
| Failed order import | Amazon order never reaches fulfillment; late shipment | Alerts on failed imports; daily reconciliation of order counts |
| Unmapped SKUs | Listings point at the wrong product or variant | Single SKU mapping table; test variants (size, color) carefully |
| Price errors | Wrong currency, tax or promotion pushed to Amazon | Separate channel price rules; min and max price guards |
| Cancellations and returns | Status changes not reflected in Magento or the ERP | Two-way status sync; tested refund and return flows |
| API limits and outages | Updates queue up or fail silently | Queue-based processing with retries and monitoring |
Amazon tracks seller-fulfilled performance closely. Its Account Health measures include order defect rate, late shipment rate and pre-fulfillment cancellation rate, each with a target Amazon can change; check Account Health in Seller Central for the current targets that apply to your account. Overselling feeds directly into cancellations, which is why stock sync deserves the most attention. Our guide to Magento inventory management explains sources, stocks and salable quantity in more detail.
Product data: the other half of the job
Amazon listings need structured attributes for each product type, plus titles, bullet points and images that meet Amazon's rules. If your product data lives in a PIM, it is often cleaner to feed Amazon from the PIM or to enrich data there first; see our Magento PIM integration guide. AI can help draft Amazon-ready titles and bullets from your existing descriptions and attributes, with human review for accuracy and compliance. Mistri's AI product content service covers this kind of channel-specific content work.
Selling on Amazon in other countries
Amazon runs separate marketplaces by region, and each has its own language, tax and compliance requirements. Selling across them raises the same questions as any cross-border expansion: VAT and duties, product safety rules and translated content. Our cross-border ecommerce guide covers these.
A step-by-step plan
- Decide the system of record for products, stock and orders (Magento, ERP or middleware).
- Choose fulfillment: you ship, Amazon ships (FBA), or Amazon ships your website orders too (Multi-Channel Fulfillment).
- Shortlist connectors that use current SP-API listings APIs and support your Magento version.
- Map a pilot set of products, including variants, and test listing, stock and price updates.
- Test order import, shipping confirmation, cancellations and returns end to end.
- Set alerts for failed syncs and a daily reconciliation report.
- Expand the catalog in batches once the pilot runs cleanly.
Frequently asked questions
Is there still an official Adobe Amazon connector?
No. Adobe discontinued Amazon Sales Channel effective October 1, 2024. Use a third-party connector, feed tool or middleware instead.
Can Amazon fulfill orders from my Magento store?
Yes, through Amazon's Multi-Channel Fulfillment. Amazon's Fulfillment Outbound API lets systems create MCF orders, and several connectors support it.
Should I build my own Amazon integration?
Usually only when off-the-shelf tools cannot handle your catalog structure or workflows. A custom build means owning SP-API changes over time.
Next step
If no connector fits your catalog or workflows, Mistri's Magento extension development team can build or extend an SP-API integration with proper queuing and monitoring.
